A Year of the Capable: Ford 2022
April 15 2022 - Lisa Cook
A red 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium is shown from the side driving past a bride on its way to a new Ford dealership.

Every year is a good year for Ford. How could it not be? Ford is one of the best brands on the market, and a true staple of American automation. 2022, however, has some especially unique things in store to give every year prior a run for its money. Just walk into a new Ford dealership, and you’ll see. As the automotive industry grows increasingly electric while simultaneously making leaps and bounds in engineering, vehicles have never been more capable than they are today. As always, Ford is a leader in this exciting time, and the theme of this year is capability. So, today, we have selected four of the most exciting models of 2022. Let’s see what we’ve got!

2022 Mustang Mach-E

The automotive industry is going electric, and this is good news. Electric vehicles are among the most exciting on the market in all sectors—power, capability, design, and everything in-between. The Mustang is a staple of the Ford brand and the automotive world at large. When you hear “Mustang,” you know what it means. But you don’t yet know what this Mustang means, but we know you’ll like it. This all-electric vehicle bears the iconic Mustang logo but bears an even bolder, sleeker, and stronger exterior. With its sharp colors (including the new Blue Silver Metallic), dark complexion, and highly sporty appearance, you can’t help but wonder what’s inside.

This electrified car comes with a highly-electrified interior as well. With a 15.5-inch touch screen (yes, it’s that big) equipped with SYNC 4A, drivers are in for one of the most technologically-advanced in-vehicle experiences currently on the market. All of this is designed to enhance the absolutely astonishing capability of this all-electric Mustang.

The new Mustang Mach-E is able to reach up to 480 horsepower and 600 pounds-feet of torque. Those numbers are near-impossible to find even on the strongest and largest of vehicles anywhere else; numbers like that are contained in an electric vehicle of this compact size is truly astonishing, and you will find them even more astonishing behind the wheel.

Now, one of the most important questions to address when it comes to an electric vehicle is that of efficiency. With an EPA-estimated range of 314 miles on the extended range battery, we think it is fair to say that the Mach-E is pretty darn efficient. Not only is it fuel-efficient, but it is also time-efficient, as drivers of the Performance Edition will enjoy the distinct thrill of accelerating from 0-60 miles-per-hour in 3.5 seconds. “That’s impossible,” you may say. But, what is impossible for other vehicles is possible for the 2022 Mustang Mach-E.

2022 F-150 Lightning

Seeing as electric vehicles are so much fun, capable, and wonderfully stylish, let’s stick with the theme. You all know the F-150. How could you not? The F-series is America’s best-selling truck. It makes sense, seeing as the F-150 is one of the most capable and iconic trucks on the market. Imagine taking that and making it electric. Imagine no longer because it's been done.

Now, before we go any further, avid fans of the F-150 may not know what to think of this, as change can be difficult. But, fear not, because these changes are all to the strength of this fantastic truck. Going electric has not in any way diminished the F-150’s iconic capability but has, in fact, strengthened and heightened it. This is the most highly-capable F-150 ever built. Don’t believe us? We’ll prove it to you.

When equipped with the extended-range battery, the new Ford F-150 Lightning is able to reach 563 horsepower and 775 pounds-feet of torque. If those numbers didn’t blow your mind, go back and reread the previous sentence. We’ll wait. Those aren’t numbers you will find on any previous F-150, nor are those numbers easy to come across anywhere else. You’ll feel those impressive numbers kick in quickly too when you find yourself accelerating from 0-60 miles per hour in the mid-four second range. The F-150 Lightning is not messing around, but you may have some fun messing around with it once you get behind the wheel.

Speaking of messing around, the F-150 Lightning is not just a star on the road but also off the road. With 4X4 performance, underbody protection, skid plates, a lithium-ion battery pack, and a whole lot of energy and strength, this electric F-150 will give you the trailblazing experience of a lifetime. Part of what makes this possible is the vehicle’s dynamic choices of drive modes—Normal, Sport, Off-Road, and Tow/Haul, the vehicle is ready to cater to the task at hand.

Speaking of towing and hauling, the F-150 Lightning has a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds and a maximum payload of 2,000 pounds. Towing is made easier through highly-advanced towing technology, especially its hitch assistance features. But, all of these performance and capability features are just the beginning, though. Hard to believe?

The vehicle’s spacious interior will have you set up with a highly-capable and highly-technological work experience, including an interior work surface and 15.5-inch portrait touchscreen equipped with SYNC 4A. The F-150 Lightning truly pulls out all the stops, and it is not slowing down.

If somehow, you are still not convinced that this electric F-150 is the most highly-capable F-150 ever built, we encourage you to come in for a test drive because we think your mind will be changed rather quickly.

2022 Bronco

No matter what year, the Bronco is a fantastic vehicle, especially if you are looking for fun and adventure. Because Ford is constantly progressing, the Bronco is as well. The 2022 Bronco brings in some exciting new features—notably, the Sasquatch Package leans into the vehicle’s off-roading capability with seven-speed manual transmission. Driving stick-shift is fun! It keeps drivers more involved with the vehicle and with the road.

Additionally, the Sasquatch package adds class-first 35-inch Goodyear mud-terrain tires. Off-roading requires the proper foundation, which begins with the tires—and these tires provide the foundation you want for off-roading.

As always, the new Ford Bronco develops its impressive four-wheel drive technology for amazing driving that will provide you with fun and thrills, both on the trail and the road. With two-door and four-door options plus the iconic open-roof option, this vehicle will excite you to hit the pavement and dirt, whether you’re flying solo or enjoying it with friends.

A Year of the Capable

Ford has always been a leader in capability. It keeps leading, pushing forward, and those efforts continue to bear fruit, as we can see in these three profound vehicles. If you’re going to invest in a vehicle, you want something that will serve you well at work, at play, on the road, off the road, and everywhere in-between. Ford knows how to make versatile vehicles that serve specific audiences while being highly flexible for a variety of occasions and interests. We firmly believe there is no such thing as a bad Ford. But the vehicles we have selected here are truly champions among champions. You’ve never seen Fords like these, and we think you’ll like them as much as we do! We welcome you to come down and see for yourself!
