What's New on the Refreshed 2025 Ford Maverick?

Earning a perfect 10/10 rating from America's most trusted automotive reviewer, Car and Driver, isn't easy, but Ford makes it look easy with the upgraded Maverick compact pickup. One look at a 2025 Ford Maverick for sale, and it's clear that Ford is heavily invested in this newer addition to the Blue Oval's best-selling truck lineup. In just three short years, the Ford Maverick has earned its stripes as a popular alternative to the SUV and its big brothers, the Ranger and the full-size F-150 pickup.

Maverick buyers tend to want the utility of a pickup without the rough ride and gas-guzzling characteristics typical of the category. Ford created the Maverick with this in mind, delivering a max towing capacity of 4,000 lbs., plenty to haul a boat or a small RV, along with a comfortable interior with room for four passengers and plenty of in-vehicle tech to keep the drive entertaining. For 2025, the Maverick comes in five trims, including the all-new performance-oriented Lobo. An available hybrid powertrain goes long on fuel economy without sacrificing acceleration.

Instead of a clunky gearbox with shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive, the Maverick comes available with all-wheel drive, which ably handles inclement weather and slick road surfaces. Ford outfits all Maverick trims with the same oversized infotainment touchscreen and the option to activate satellite radio and a Wi-Fi hotspot, so be prepared to serve as the driver for your friend group's road trips, especially since the Maverick has a four-door setup for easy loading and unloading. What else is new for the 2025 model year? Read on for the long list of upgrades Ford has added to the popular Maverick pickup.

A Refresh for 2025

2025 is a mid-cycle refresh year, which means that Ford incorporated substantial upgrades without performing a ground-up redesign. Buyers interested in the Maverick will be excited to learn that Ford has now added an all-wheel drive hybrid drivetrain. The new fuel-efficient, inclement weather-ready drivetrain is available on the Maverick XL, XLT, and Lariat trims. Add the 4K Tow Package and the all-wheel drive Maverick can easily tow a small camper or jet ski with its 4,000-lb capability. Folks who need cargo capability will also appreciate the Maverick's 1,500-lb. max payload capacity.

The Maverick receives a refreshed exterior, highlighted by new front grilles on each trim and more wheel design choices. Ford adds a dark appearance to the standard LED headlights, which creates a more aggressive curb profile. On the inside, new interior trim colors, such as the Smoke Truffle hue—available on the Lariat—add unique bronze accenting. On the XLT trim, the available Aspen Gray/Navy Pier theme adds a nautical vibe. The Maverick's unique exterior lines look futuristic, with a curved, aerodynamic windshield and high wheel wells, but still maintain a rugged pickup style.

The 2025 Ford Maverick also received plenty of technological upgrades, the most notable of which is the standard 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen that is now standard across the entire trim range. The massive, center dash-mounted screen replaces the previous year's 8-inch version and includes Ford's SYNC 4 operating system, which is capable of receiving over-the-air software updates. An 8-inch digital instrument cluster also comes standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Ford also offers an available 360-degree camera that provides a 360-degree view and makes trailer hook-up a breeze.

The All-New Maverick Lobo

If a low-rider-style pickup with sports car performance capability is on your wish list, the 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo has the goods to make your dreams a reality. This brand-new Maverick trim, which Ford calls the "street-performance version," rounds out an already well-rounded Maverick lineup that includes a brawny Tremor trim and economical hybrid models. Make no mistake: this is a hot rod-style Maverick that belongs on the road, with a road-tuned suspension and a powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that achieves a zero-to-sixty time of just 5.9 seconds, according to the test crew at Car and Driver.

The Lobo sits a half-inch lower than its siblings in the front and lower still, 1.12 inches, to be precise–in the rear. Roof height was also adjusted to just under an inch lower than traditional Maverick trims to aid with aerodynamics. Equipped with twin-clutch rear-wheel drive and torque vectoring, the Maverick corners like a sports coupe when set to the trim-specific Lobo Drive Mode. Ford admits that Lobo Drive Mode was "inspired by drifting and autocross," which is why the automaker recommends only activating the feature on a closed course.

From a style perspective, the Maverick Lobo differentiates itself from the rest of the Maverick trim lineup with rally style 19-inch wheels. The front bumper and fascia deviate as well, and a two-tone black roof rounds out the Lobo's unique exterior appearance. In the cabin, Ford accents the seats with blue and lime green stitching and embosses the Logo brand on the front seats. Buyers can choose from a Standard configuration or upgrade to the High configuration, which adds in-cabin conveniences, such as a heated steering wheel, heated seats, additional driver-assistance safety technologies, and a moonroof.

High-Tech Safety Upgrades

Ford remains consistently focused on occupant safety throughout its vehicle lineup, and the refreshed 2025 Maverick is no exception. The available 360-degree camera doubles as a convenient helper when hooking up your trailer and support while you navigate tight spaces like city streets or parking garages. It's capable of displaying a split view of the front and rear of the vehicle and views of cross traffic, eliminating the need to "eyeball" dicey situations. Certain 2025 Ford Maverick trims will now come standard with more driver-assistance technologies across the lineup, including Adaptive Cruise Control on the Lariat and Tremor, which automatically adjusts your speed to meet current traffic patterns.

Automatic LED high beams are now standard across the entire trim range so drivers can focus on the road at night and let the system switch between low- and high-beam settings. Ford has also included Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, a system that uses the vehicle's cameras, sensors, and radar to sense when a collision is possible and alert the driver to potential hazards. If necessary, the system will automatically apply the brakes to avoid or eliminate the severity of a crash.

The Maverick Lariat and Tremor trims will include Lane Centering, a technology that works by sensing your intended lane of travel and sending gentle haptic steering nudges when it senses your pickup drifting to keep you centered. Predictive Speed Assist is also part of the Lariat and Tremor trims' standard driver-assistance technology suite, which can actually read speed limit signs and interpret changing road conditions to automatically adjust your speed. The system uses a combination of traffic sign recognition, sensors, and navigation data and works in tandem with Adaptive Cruise Control to avoid the need for frequent manual speed adjustments by the driver.

The Dynamic 2025 Ford Maverick

If you want the utility of a pickup but crave a daily driver that feels nimble and manageable, the Ford Maverick fits the bill. Ford takes the best attributes of a sporty sedan and marries them to a rig that can tow a respectable weight and provide capable hauling in a traditional pickup bed setup. Now that an all-wheel drive hybrid model joins the lineup, commuters will find even more reasons to join the growing family of happy Maverick owners. With ratings of 42 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway, that long daily commute to work gets a whole lot cheaper.

The Maverick offers a value proposition for a slew of buyers, thanks to its sub-$30,000 starting price.[a] Upscale trims like the Tremor and the all-new Lobo deviate from the prescribed compact pickup formula, providing an alternative for shoppers looking to stand out and eek additional performance and capability out of their trucks. If your plans include buying a new vehicle, the 2025 Ford Maverick is absolutely worth a closer look.
